2009 Dream Home Award Goes to Donatelli Builders of Wheaton

Dream Home Award Winner Remodel

Dream Home Award Winner Remodel

The Dream Home Awards is an annual competition open to interior designers, architects, remodelers, trade organizations and builders from across the nation.  In the category of “Best Whole House Remodel 2,500-4,000 square feet”, Donatelli Builders captured this prestigious award for the stunning remodel of a 90 year old Georgian style home in Wheaton, IL.   The architect involved in the whole house remodel was Ron Haas of Ronald T. Haas & Associates.   The homeowner, architect and builder worked carefully to balance the Federal and Adam-esque styles of architecture.  The result is a fine example of Chicago real estate in the western Chicagoland suburbs.

The remodel encompassed and entire interior gut rehab and 2 new additions that increased the 2,800 square foot home to 4,800.  The intended vision was to restore the home to its original beauty, renovate it to incorporate modern functionality and added new construction that maintained the home’s original character while seamlessly blending traditional charm with modern design features.   Needless to say, these goals were accomplished with a prestigious award to justify the $900,000 project budget.   The homeowner is over-joyed with the final result and mention that the best compliment they’ve received is, “You can’t tell the old from the new. It looks like the home has always been like this.”
