Social Media Networks Continue Massive Growth Trend in 2009

social_networking_sitesmRELEVANCE, an internet marketing and social media company, has preached and provided its expertise to builders and real estate professional in effectively using social media to help boost their online presence.  More than simply setting up a Facebook page, effective internet marketing requires an integrated approach tying the website, blog and social media together.

So it comes as no surprise to mRELEVANCE that social networks are still seeing massive growth this year versus the same time last year. RSIMedia reported today that 43% of the online community actively use social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. That figure is up 16% from a year ago and should be expected to see more growth in the future. The Consumer Internet Barometer, a quarterly report by the The Conference Board (a business and research association along with TNS, a global market information group) provided the study and statistics.

What may still be a mystery to people is their usefullness in business and how to actively promote the brand, services and expertise in the their respective industries via social media.  Carol M. Flammer, of mRELEVANCE, described earlier this month in a Realty / Builder Connection article, tips for real estate professionals utilizing social media and gaining customers.  As Flammer points out, you really need to determine your strategy and goals first such as aiming for better Search Engine Optimization or Social Media Optimization.

Each strategy requires a different approach to attract new buyers.  Ultimately, social media outlets provide a place for your business to interact with customers, listen to their questions and give them useful information that they can use to make an educated decision about your communities.  Remember that an effective marketing campaign via social media takes time and dedication.  It should be fun as well, give your followers, friends or connections something interesting and fun to read about and you will see the results with better search engine rankings, increased traffic and more sales.
