2016 Summer Olympic Decision Day

chicago-illinoisYou probably remember well where you were on September 11, 2001, when you first heard of the attacks on the World Trade Center towers. Depending on your age (we won’t ask), you may also remember exactly where you were to watch the moon landing, or maybe you remember the place where you heard the news of President Kennedy’s assassination.  A Chicagoan may remember today in a better way as the seemingly inevitable Olympic announcement.

So today’s big question: Where will you be when you hear that Chicago got the Olympics?  We don’t mean to jump the gun, but the folks at Oddschecker think the 2016 Olympic Games are coming here, and we’re running with it. President Obama helped give Chicago the final push hoped to give the city the 2016 Summer Olympics early this morning in Copenhagen, which for reasons unknown to us, should help Chicago’s bid.

If you want to be somewhere actually broadcasting the announcement, the Chicago Tribune provides a list of locations for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games . In some places, festivities start as early as 9 a.m. in preparation for the 11:30 a.m. presentation by the IOC.   Skip out of the office for the live 11:30 AM local announcement set for today and help celebrate should Chicago win.  ESPN radio is broadcasting live with many other local and national news outlets waiting to hear if Chicago and beat it’s reported rival Rio de Janeiro, the purported top contender.

Of course, you can count on those of us at Chicagoland Real Estate Forum to break the news as well, just as we report on Chicago’s real estate news every day. Stay tuned.
