Be Obama’s Neighbor – Home Next Door For Sale in Kenwood

5040SgreenwoodavenueKenwood is a neighborhood on Chicago’s southside known for it’s blocks upon blocks of late 19th century mansions, close proximity to the prestigious University of Chicago and home of President Barack Obama. As the president and his family relocated to Washington DC in a little place called the White House, his next door neighbors have listed their home at 5040 S. Greenwood Avenue a 17-room brick house, which needs substantial renovation for a mere $1.85 million.

President Obama’s neighbors house was owned by the same family for over three decades and they’ve apparently had trouble trying to figure out what the value is when living next to a sitting president’s home away from the White House.  Homes typically in this historic district range in the mid $2 million range that need little to no remodeling work done so this is quite the find for a potential house hunter looking for something extremely unique.

Kenwood is largely unknown to many Chicagoans but it has seen a recent resurgence in exposure obviously due to a now world famous resident.  Kenwood was once one of the most elite neighborhoods in all of Chicago and some of it’s more famous former and current residents include: Muhammad Ali, Bill Ayers, Carol Moseley Braun, Louis Farrakhan, Robert Gomer, Edward Levi, Elijah Muhammad, Julius Rosenwald, Bill Veeck & Leopold and Loeb.
