Chicagolands Most Expensive Home On The Market

Known as Le Grand Reve, the six-bedroom, chateau-style mansion, which is owned by commercial real estate executive Sherwin Jarol, sits on 2.04 acres.  A 26-room, 27,000-square-foot mansion in Winnetka officially came on the market for $28 million, making it by far the highest-priced listing in the Chicago real estate.  Only 8 other Chicago area properties are reportedly on the market for more than $10 million.

Featured in the Chicago Tribune and constructed in the last few years and completed in 2008, the two-story limestone mansion was designed by Los Angeles architect Richard Landry.  Features in the mansion include six full baths, four half baths and a grand entrance with a two-story rotunda and Tiffany dome.

The property was unofficially listed with a $32 million asking price during 2009 and mentioned here on Chicagoland Real Estate Forum but was not formally placed on the market and thus in the real estate multiple listing service until last Tuesday, when it officially was listed with its lower (and more reasonable) asking price.

The co-listing agent is Timothy Salm of Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty.  Ronda Fish of Sudler Sotheby’s also is a co-listing agent for the Winnetka mansion.  Nothing else is currently on the market in the Chicago area comes close to the listing price for Le Grand Reve.

Another mansion in Burr Ridge named the Villa Taj, a brand-new, 30,000-square-foot home, was listed last year for $25 million but later was pulled off the market. It later was put up for auction and then pulled off the auction block right before the event began.
