Northwestern Football Coach Moving to Northfield

Northwestern University head football coach Pat Fitzgerald has purchased a six-bedroom mansion in Northfield for $2.3 million.

Situated on just over an acre of Chicago real estate, the 10,000-square-foot home includes six full baths, two half baths, six fireplaces, a first-floor suite, a four-car garage and a detached barn. The residence was first listed in 2007 for $3.4 million.

Fitzgerald’s three-bedroom home in northwest Evanston is now on the market with an asking price of $599,000. Constructed in 2006, the long-time Evanston resident purchased it that year for $730,000.

Pat Fitzgerald, 35, who joined the Wildcats coaching staff in 2001 and has been the head coach since 2006, was also a star linebacker for Northwestern during its 1995 Rose Bowl season. Last year, Northwestern University extended Fitzgerald’s coaching contract through 2015.
