Chicago About To Transform Back Into a Normal City

It’s almost a wrap!

“Transformers 3″ is spending its last day filming in downtown Chicago on Thursday.

Shooting will start in Millennium Park from 6 to 11 a.m., where the crew will be using pyrotechnics to create explosions.

From 7 to 9 p.m., a helicopter will be flying above the main branch of the Chicago River filming explosions on the rooftops of various high-rises along Wacker Drive. That should be a sight to see.

Filming will wrap up from 7 p.m. to midnight at Midway Plaisance in Hyde Park. Some streets will be intermittently closed between Woodlawn and Dorchester, and there will be … you guessed it … more pyrotechnics.

Last week, Mayor Richard M. Daley held a press conference to thank the cast and crew of “Transformers 3,” which brought more than $20 million to our local economy and created 1,200 jobs.

Ten of the jobs were paid internships for Chicago Public Schools students.

The third installment of the Transformers series is expected to be released in 2011.

Bet a lot of people from Chicago will go see it!
